Sportsman Education Courses

held at the

Lake Plains Waterfowl Association

LPWA is proud to offer NYS DEC Sportsman Education courses several times a year in the following disciplines:

Hunter Education

Bowhunter Education

Waterfowl Education

Courses are taught by volunteer LPWA members who are NYS DEC Certified Sportsman Education Instructors at no charge to the public.

All courses are held at the Lake Plains Waterfowl Association clubhouse which is located at 1000 Island Cottage Road in Greece NY.  

Please note, class sizes are limited and can fill up quickly.

Pre-registration is required.  Pre-register at the Town of Greece Town Hall located at 1 Vincent Tofany Blvd (off Long Pond Road, North of Latta Road) Greece, NY 14612 at the Town Clerk's Counter (585) 225-2000 Register Monday - Friday from 9 am to 5 pm

You will also need to pick up course booklet for the Hunter Education and Bow Hunter Education courses when you register.  You are expected to have read through the booklet before the start of the class.

Classes start at the times indicated - DO NOT BE LATE!

Entire course attendance along with class participation, positive attitude, and the passing of the exam are required to receive the appropriate course completion certificate.

Class sizes are limited to 35 students.

Hunter Education - Three evening course.  You must attend all three classes and pass the exam in order to receive your certificate for this course.

Bowhunter Education Three evening course. You must attend all three classes and pass the exam in order to receive your certificate for this course

Waterfowl Hunter Education   This course is one night only.  Successful completion of this course and passing the final exam will get you a certificate which will be required if you wish to participate in the waterfowl hunting programs on a few NY State WMAs and the Montezuma and Iroquois NWRs.  Booklets will be passed out night of the course. Fall 2008 Hunter Education Courses

Pre-registration is required.  You must register at or contacting the Town of Greece Clerks' Office (see above in red).  You MUST pick up the course manual BEFORE the course starts at the Town Clerk's office. You must attend all three nights of the course and successfully pass the exam in order to be issued a certificate.  Minumum age for the course is 11 years of age.

Class size is limited to 25 students.
